I just got back from a retreat with Roberta Hestenes. Powerful teaching! One point she made that will really stick with me is that Christians are called to change the world, not just survive middle or upper-middle class stress levels.

When Dr. Hestenes spoke at the United Mission to Nepal Annual conference in the late 1990s, she said something that stuck with me (don’t know if it is original with her “I used to think ‘Somebody ought to do something’, then I realized “I am somebody”.
